Gardening in Times Square

The Cabbage Patch, located between 44th and 45th Streets, is the only green space in Times Square.
Seniors from the Woodstock's Gardening for Life Program have assumed reponsibility for the care and maintenance of the Cabbage Patch.

Here, seniors from The Woodstock Gardening for Life Program weed and plant the Cabbage Patch. The seniors also water the plants and remove garbage from the Cabbage Patch throughout the year.
Both pedestrians and motorist often stop to comment on the garden, ask about it and thank our seniors for keeping this small piece of Times Square green.

No hiding in the leaves! Gwenn Fried, Gardening for Life instructor, tackles some stubborn undergrowth.
It's hard to believe, but a real, live mocking bird is living in the middle of Times Square.
