Just in time for Spring, the Woodstock Gardening for Life club has finished its newest project: a mural on the wall of the dining room at The Woodstock. The mural, titled “Friends,” depicts a scene in Central Park. The Gardening for Life seniors began painting the mural in February and finished it over the course of three months. An unveiling was held on Monday, May 9th.
Many thanks to Gwenn Fried, Gardening for Life instructor; Jackie Marencin and Lisa Klich, the Pratt Institute interns who worked with the seniors on the project; and all of the Woodstock gardening seniors who participated as artists.
Many thanks also to Norman Clayton, Woodstock resident, gardener and poet, who wrote this wonderful haiku to describe the new mural:
Dark star you dazzle
Much like a dream at midnight
Reaching out and in.
