To ensure seniors residing in NYCHA’s Harborview and Amsterdam Houses had easy access to the COVID vaccine, Project FIND’s Clinton Neighborhood Center partnered with their local health care provider, Ryan/Chelsea Health Clinic, to conduct a community vaccination event.
In less than 72-hours after announcing the onsite clinic via a beautifully prepared flyer, more than 60 seniors as well as their friends, families, and caregivers had registered to receive the Johnson and Johnson vaccination in preparation for the April 7 event.
Project FIND is invested in ensuring seniors and those who support them have easy access the vaccine — especially at such a critical time when COVID numbers are on the rise and some seniors may be reluctant to travel to vaccination sites. The event alleviated the additional hurdles of navigating the online appointment system.
"Our goal was to support our members in having access to the COVID vaccine as seamlessly as possible, so we wanted to bring the opportunity to them," said Project FIND staff.
Clinton Neighborhood Center is located at 530 West 55th Street and has been serving older adults on Manhattan's Hell’s Kitchen area for more than 40 years. During COVID, the site is operational Monday through Friday from 9am-5pm but is serving senior’s virtually and by telephone.
