An Afternoon At The Ticker Tape Parade!

On the 5th of July the USA's women's soccer team lifted their third world cup title after a dramatic 5-2 victory over Japan in Vancouver. The final was watched by over 25 million viewers and included a sensational hat trick by number 10 Carli Lloyd! In my native Belfast, soccer (or football as we call it) is incredibly popular and the favorite sport of most in my experience. Therefore, I found it an exciting privilege to be present at the Ticker Tape parade in New York City which took place in honor of the hard fought triumph by the USA. The city has not hosted a parade to honor a team of national athletes since the Los Angeles Olympics in 1984. Below is a short collection of my own snapshots of the event in lower Manhattan.
