HOMELESS-IN-REACH PLUS (HIR+)

About the Program

Since 1977, Project FIND’s Woodstock Hotel has provided essential services to unhoused and destitute older adults in Midtown Manhattan, serving as both a refuge and a connection point to comprehensive care. In the 1990s, Project FIND launched the Homeless-In-Reach (HIR) program, using basic services — like hot showers and clean clothes — as opportunities to build trust and connect individuals to critical resources. In 2019, with support from the Fan Fox and Leslie R. Samuels Foundation, the program expanded to HIR+, adding psychiatric care and peer support services. In 2020, funding from the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation allowed the team to grow further and extend outreach to more street unhoused older adults, offering immediate relief and long-term pathways to stability.
