It is our pleasure to inform you that JASA’s Institute for Senior Action (IFSA) is now accepting applications for the Spring 2014 semester.  IFSA offers an exciting opportunity to engage people from across metropolitan New York in skill enhancement and leadership development, and serves as a vehicle to introduce recent retirees to the world of senior advocacy. Since its inception, we have completed 37 sessions, graduating close to 1000 senior leaders!

The 10-week IFSA course is held once per week on Thursdays, March 6th– May 15th, from 10am-2:00pm at JASA Cooper Square, 200 East 5th Street (between 2nd and 3rdAvenues).  There is no class on April 17th.  Sessions are led by a diverse and knowledgeable group of instructors from New York City, Albany and Washington D.C and cover a variety of topics such as: understanding the legislative processes, techniques of social action, public speaking and more.

We encourage and welcome older adults from all backgrounds, boroughs and ethnicities to join us in learning about, and advocating for senior rights.  Classes are taught in English.  The total cost for the 10 weeks is $100.
