T.P. Balakrishnan Memorial Fund
A Day For Night dinner in honor of T.P. Balakrishnan will be held at the Project FIND Coffeehouse on Thursday, February 13, 2014.
T.P.Balakrishnan (1923-2014), was born in South India, and worked as an engineer in the Public Works Department until he emigrated to the United States in 1968 where he worked for the State of Illinois for nearly forty years. He was integral in organizing the early Indian community in Chicago, and devoted considerable energies to helping the less fortunate.
His family is sponsoring the evening meal at Coffee House and has established a fund to continue this dinner as an annual tradition. The dinner is part of our Day for Night program: providing a hot meal, activities and a sense of community to homeless and low-income seniors in our city. We hope the knowledge that this gift will aid others can be of comfort to you at this sad time.
