T. P. Balakrishnan Memorial Dinner

A beautiful memorial event was held last week for the recently deceased Thekampalath (T.P) Balakrishnan.

Over one hundred people crowded the Coffeehouse Senior Center to enjoy a splendid dinner sponsored by T.P’s family, and dance to the dulcet tones of Linwood Peel, former member of the Drifters.Executive Director, David Gillcrist spoke of his father in-law’s early community building work in Chicago, founding the Malayalee Cultural Association in 1971, and then later a Hindu association, Gita Mandalam.  The perfect tribute to a man who loved gatherings, festivities, music and dance.
