As described by Michelle de Savigny, "Poets at the Hamilton Senior Center come together weekly to create their own poems after reading and discussing the work of poets as varied as Stanley Kunitz, Thomas Hardy and Rita Dove. There’s nothing like the words and rhythms of favorite poets and your peers to provide inspiration, and a built-in time to write to put an end to procrastination.
Writing takes place in class, followed by supportive feedback from peers and the instructor, Michelle de Savigny.
Many students are motivated to revise work or create new poems between sessions. This lively, prolific group has been meeting at the Hamilton Senior Center since 2010.
We’re always open to newcomers, and are a mix of experienced writers and those new to the pleasures of poetry.
